Three suspects in December’s high-profile hospital escape in Larnaca will face trial at the Criminal Court on February 11, including a 49-year-old Swedish national, his 54-year-old lawyer, and a 44-year-old police officer.
The defendants face seven serious charges, with conspiracy to commit a felony being the only charge common to all three.
The Swedish national, who escaped from a private clinic in Larnaca on December 22, faces additional charges of prison break and money laundering.
His lawyer, accused of assisting the escape plan, is charged with aiding a prisoner’s escape and money laundering. The police officer faces the most severe indictment, including charges of aiding a prisoner, abuse of power, and corruption-related transactions.
The case continues at the Larnaca District Court, where defense lawyer Kypros Andreou has challenged the detention of the police officer and lawyer suspects.
