Police have identified the driver of a racing car filmed drifting around the Linopetra roundabout in Limassol after a wedding on Sunday, along with people who allegedly blocked its exits with tow trucks, and are expected to seek arrest warrants, Phileleftheros understands.

Officers from Limassol traffic police tracked down those involved, who have given statements. The investigation covers both the driver and those who allegedly closed off the roundabout’s exits so the drift show could go ahead.

The incident took place after the wedding ceremony, as those involved left the church, according to the same information.

A video posted on social media with the caption ‘Just Married’ shows the car repeatedly sliding sideways around the roundabout as flares are lit. A person can also be seen standing in the road while the car carries out the manoeuvres.

Tow trucks had been used to block the roundabout’s exits and stop other traffic passing through during the improvised show.

The footage drew criticism after it was published.
