A Wizz Air flight from London to Sofia was diverted to Budapest on Monday after receiving a bomb threat, and was escorted by a Hungarian Gripen fighter jet, Hungarian Defence Minister Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi said, Reuters reported.
The passenger aircraft landed safely in Budapest, the minister said in a Facebook post. He added that police were taking additional measures after the landing.
Wizz Air told the Hungarian news site 24.hu that the authorities were carrying out a security inspection of the aircraft and its passengers.
The Gripen returned to its base in Kecskemet after the incident.
