Cyprus expects to welcome 13 million passengers through its Larnaca and Paphos airports in 2025, according to forecasts from airport operator Hermes Airports.

Maria Kouroupi, Director of Aviation Development, Marketing and Communications at Hermes Airports, confirmed the projections following a robust start to the year, with passenger traffic increasing 7% during the first quarter compared to the same period in 2024.

The anticipated growth builds on an expanding network of airlines and routes serving the island.

Several new airlines are launching operations to Cyprus this year, including AnimaWings, SkyUP with a Chisinau-Cyprus route, Air Haifa serving both Larnaca and Paphos, and Saudia introducing a new Riyadh-Cyprus connection.

Established carriers are also expanding their presence. Transavia is adding new routes from Marseille and Lyon to Larnaca and Paphos, while Aegean Airlines will operate new flights connecting Larnaca with Rome. EasyJet is launching an Amsterdam-Cyprus service, and Cyprus Airways will operate a seasonal route to Venice.

The UK and German markets, traditionally strong sources of visitors to Cyprus, are seeing increased capacity. Flight frequencies from Manchester, Luton and Gatwick will increase, while Condor is returning with two routes from Frankfurt and Düsseldorf. Ryanair is adding flights from Düsseldorf’s second airport (Weeze) to Paphos, and connections from Polish cities like Katowice are also being expanded.

Hermes Airports recently participated in the Berlin Tourism Exhibition and plans to attend Routes Europe 2025, scheduled for April 8-10 in Seville, Spain. The industry event brings together airports and airlines to discuss new partnership opportunities and route development strategies.
