A Farhadi film starring Isabelle Huppert, Florian Zeller’s ‘The Father’ and Cristian Mungiu’s new film ‘Fjord’ are among the highlights of this week’s cultural listings, alongside exhibitions in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos.
SCREENING
Nicosia, Pantheon, 8.30pm. The Film Society screens Asghar Farhadi’s ‘Parallel Tales’, starring Isabelle Huppert. Sylvie, a writer, watches a flat opposite her own, observing how the people there live and what they do. She then writes a novel, which her publisher rates poorly. A young man who helps her takes the discarded novel and passes it off as his own to win over the attractive neighbour. All this upends the lives of the three people living in the flat, though the film is more than this linear story. Dialogue: French. Subtitles: Greek. 2026, 139 minutes.
THEATRE
Nicosia, Dentro Theatre, 8.30pm. Florian Zeller’s multi-award-winning and much-discussed play ‘The Father’, directed by Giannis Leontaris with Stavros Louras in the lead role.
