The Department of Public Works has awarded a 4.3 million euro contract plus VAT for two park-and-ride facilities under the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) in Larnaca district, with completion expected within 14 months.
The contract, signed on Monday between Public Works Director Eleftherios Eleftheriou and S. Hadjichristofi Construction Limited, covers facilities in Aradippou municipality and the former Kalo Chorio community, the transport ministry said in a statement.
The European Union-funded project, part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, includes a 14-month construction phase followed by 12 years of maintenance.
In Aradippou, the development will feature road reconstruction, a new roundabout, a 315-square-metre single-storey building with a shelter, a two-bus stop bay, as well as parking for 67 vehicles.
The Kalo Chorio facility will include a similar 315-square-metre building with shelter, a two-bus stop bay, and parking space for 195 vehicles, the ministry said.
The project aims to improve sustainable urban mobility in the Larnaca district.
