Authorities have evacuated the northern side of the Koilani community as police investigate the possibility that the deadly Limassol wildfire was deliberately started, with the main fire front moving towards Mandria.

Police spokeswoman Kyriaki Lambrianidou told the Cyprus News Agency that witness testimony had been secured from a citizen suggesting the fire may have been started maliciously. Limassol CID investigators are examining every possible testimony, she said.

Lambrianidou appealed for any citizens with information that could assist the police investigation to contact 25 805383 or 25 805057.
