A vehicle belonging to a senior administrative official of Limassol Municipality was engulfed in flames early Monday morning in the Mesa Geitonia area, authorities confirmed.
Police and fire service personnel conducted on-site examinations at daybreak to determine whether the incident was the result of criminal activity or an accident.
Officials from the Electromechanical Service Department also arrived at the scene to conduct their own examinations of the vehicle.
The incident appears to have caused concern and disruption within Limassol Municipality.
Police reported that the fire broke out around 2:30 a.m. in the vehicle, which was parked outside the complainant’s residence. The blaze was spotted by neighbours, prompting fire service crews to rush to the scene. Despite their efforts, the car was completely destroyed.
Investigators continue to gather evidence as the investigation proceeds.
