Police have arrested one more person over the alleged abduction of a 24-year-old man in Limassol who was attacked and injured in the leg with a knife, bringing the number of arrests to three. All three have been released without charge pending the outcome of police inquiries.
According to the man’s complaint, three people drove him to another area on Friday, October 16, and attacked him there. One of them injured him in the leg with a knife.
In his complaint, the 24-year-old, a Turkish Cypriot, said the men had allegedly grabbed him from a park in the Agios Antonios area of Limassol and forced him into a vehicle before taking him to an isolated rural area, where they allegedly beat him. Limassol Assistant Police Director Lefteris Kyriakou said earlier this week that the alleged attackers suspected the 24-year-old of recent thefts of hunting dogs.
Limassol CID is investigating a case of abduction and causing grievous bodily harm. Police were told about the incident on Monday morning. Kyriakou said the 24-year-old had reportedly given a different account when he went to hospital, and the authorities are looking into the circumstances of his initial report.
Officers arrested a 30-year-old on a court warrant shortly after midnight on Tuesday, and a 45-year-old Greek Cypriot was also arrested on Tuesday, philenews reported at the time.
