Firefighters have rescued two dogs in recent days, one from a gorge in the Paphos district and the other from a pit in the Larnaca district, fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis said.
The first dog was pulled out of a gorge in the Farangia area of Kato Akourdaleia and returned to its owner.
The second was rescued from a pit in the Dromolaxia-Meneou municipality. It had been found by a passer-by, so firefighters handed it over to the local authority.
The fire service also urged the local authority to secure the pit.
