An unprecedented incident occurred at Limassol District Court today when an inmate was found in possession of drugs, reportedly passed to him by his elderly mother.
The convict was transported to the court for a pending criminal case.
Whilst in the corridor outside the courtroom, he met with his elderly mother who allegedly handed him a bag containing illegal substances.
Before entering the courtroom, a routine body search by police officers revealed the bag of drugs in the inmate’s possession.
The Limassol Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) was immediately notified and officers promptly arrived at the court.
The elderly woman is expected to be taken to the police station for questioning.
