The Defence Ministry has announced the appointment of a criminal investigator to look into the fire that broke out at the Kalo Chorio firing range, with the aim of establishing the causes and circumstances behind it and examining possible disciplinary and criminal responsibility.
According to the announcement, the National Guard General Staff (GEEF) appointed Brigadier Savvas Stefanou as criminal investigator, tasking him with carrying out the investigation.
The Defence Ministry said completing the investigation is an essential step, to ensure all facts relating to the incident are recorded objectively, fully and with proper documentation, and to establish exactly how the fire started.
