The condition of the two National Guardsmen who suffered severe heatstroke has improved, according to the Ministry of Defense.
The 17-year-old receiving treatment in Paris has responded positively to treatment, and damage to his vital organs has been repaired. His condition is expected to stabilize in the coming days.
The 18-year-old in Nicosia General Hospital’s ICU has been extubated and is recovering well. It was revealed that he also tested positive for COVID-19, which contributed to his collapse. If he tests negative in an upcoming test, he will be transferred to a regular ward for further treatment.
Ministry of Defense spokesperson Andreas Stylianou expressed optimism about the progress of both soldiers.
He confirmed that investigations into the causes of the heatstroke incidents are nearing completion.
