A 17-year-old National Guard soldier serving in the Commando (LOK) unit is undergoing tests at Nicosia General Hospital after exhibiting symptoms of heatstroke.
Philenews reports that the soldier was brought to the Emergency Room in a semi-comatose state and subsequently admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where he was intubated.
Doctors are conducting various tests, including cardiological exams, to confirm a heatstroke diagnosis. The soldier’s high fever is a strong indicator.
The Ministry of Defense confirmed the incident, stating that the soldier fell unwell after afternoon rest and was initially treated at the unit’s medical centre before transfer to Nicosia General Hospital.
The Ministry will issue updates on the soldier’s condition and confirmed diagnosis once available.
