More than 150 teams of firefighters continue to battle multiple fire fronts around Jerusalem, without yet achieving complete control as of this morning, the Israel Fire and Rescue Authority said in a statement.
155 ground crews were still operating, with water drops from firefighting aircraft resuming at first light.
“At this stage, we have not managed to bring the fires under control,” the authority’s statement read.
At least 17 firefighters were reported injured, two of whom were transferred to a hospital for further medical treatment.
As the situation around the historic city improved, peripheral roads in the area gradually reopened to traffic.
