Tehran is preparing a crushing response to Saturday’s co-ordinated Israeli and American strikes on Iran, an Iranian official told Reuters, raising the spectre of a broader regional conflict that Western powers have long sought to prevent.
Iran had previously warned that it would defend itself against any attack, and had put neighbouring countries hosting U.S. troops on notice that American bases in the region would be targeted if Washington joined any assault on Iranian soil.
