We live in the age of the image, of the impression, and that’s not about to change. But it’s worth knowing what’s going on underneath the surface, the surface that usually does the impressing and the one we tend to just take at face value. That’s exactly what Euractiv did in a report on Ilias Kasidiaris’s political comeback on the Greek scene. It noted that his name resurfaced this summer, when billionaire businessman Elon Musk reposted something on his X account, framing Kasidiaris as “wronged by the judicial system” over his bid for early release.
Euractiv goes into real depth on the legal obstacles standing in the way of Kasidiaris running in elections, given his conviction for directing the criminal organisation Golden Dawn, and the legislation designed to vet the “genuine leadership” of political parties wanting to take part in elections. As for Cypriot politics; everyone already knows who Elon Musk is backing there too…
