New fire fronts have emerged in the communities of Arsos and Zanatzia with continuous flare-ups prompting the deployment of ground and aerial forces to the affected areas.
Fire Service forces worked throughout the night in collaboration with bulldozers to contain the blaze. Unmanned National Guard aircraft recorded active hotspots to guide operations.
According to Fire Service spokesman Andreas Kettis, 10 aerial units have been operating since early morning with an 11th coordinating, with numbers expected to increase to 13 aircraft with a 14th coordinating.
Continuous flare-ups persist near the communities of Arsos and Zanatzia, where both ground and aerial forces are being deployed in response.
Wind intensity is forecast to increase, raising the risk of further fire spread and complicating containment efforts.
The deadly Limassol fire that has destroyed entire communities since it started on Wednesday afternoon, is suspected to be the result of arson, according to Fire Service officials.
