Cyprus airports surpass 500,000 passengers in February for first time

Cyprus’s airports have recorded their highest-ever February passenger traffic, exceeding the 500,000 passenger threshold for the first time during this traditionally quieter month, the Ministry of Transport announced on Thursday.

A total of 535,423 passengers travelled through Larnaca and Paphos airports last month, representing an 8% year-on-year increase and establishing a new benchmark for February operations. Since the beginning of 2025, overall passenger movement has grown by 7.39% compared to the corresponding period in 2024.

The growth has been unevenly distributed between the island’s two international gateways. Larnaca Airport registered a significant 12.4% increase in passenger numbers, while Paphos Airport experienced a 2.95% decline.

Aircraft movements also saw substantial growth, with a 4.85% increase bringing the total number of flights to 4,713 during February. This indicates airlines are responding to increased demand with additional capacity and potentially higher load factors.

Five key markets have driven this passenger growth, according to the ministry statement: Greece, the United Kingdom, Poland, Israel, and Germany.
