The Parliamentary Committee on Energy is holding an extraordinary meeting this morning to receive an update on the progress of the liquefied natural gas terminal in Vasiliko and the Cyprus-Greece-Israel electricity interconnection via the Great Sea Interconnector (GSI) submarine cable.

The Committee meeting will start at 10:00 am, and it will also be informed about the latest developments regarding the organisation of travel to and from the occupied areas.

The discussion regarding the pending issues of the Cyprus-Greece-Israel electricity interconnection via the GSI submarine cable will focus on the guarantees provided by the GSI implementing entity in the event of geopolitical risk, the reduction in the amount of grant funding and the participation of the Republic of Cyprus in the project’s share capital.

It will also focus on issues related to the recovery of electricity interconnection revenues during the construction period and the assumption of responsibility regarding the uncertainties surrounding the completion of the project.

The Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, the Deputy Minister to the President, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, and the Auditor General, among others, have been invited to attend the meeting.
