Join the Larnaca Photo Club for our annual Perseids meteor shower outing — one of the most impressive celestial events of the summer.
The Perseids occur every August as Earth crosses the debris stream left behind by Comet Swift-Tuttle. The meteors appear to radiate from the constellation Perseus, which gives the shower its name. Known since antiquity, the Perseids are a favorite among stargazers and photographers alike.
This year, the peak is expected on the night of August 12, with the Moon at 85% brightness. While this may reduce visibility of faint meteors, the brighter ones will still be clearly visible and photogenic.
The event is open to all, whether you’re there to shoot or just enjoy the sky.
