Police arrested a 33-year-old woman on Wednesday in an investigation into the trafficking of about one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine, which was found in a postal parcel and seized.
She was arrested shortly before 9am on a court warrant, issued on the basis of evidence gathered by the Directorate for Combating Organised Crime (DAOE). The evidence came from the directorate’s Anti-Drugs Unit (YKAN) and its Intelligence and Special Operations Sub-directorate.
A 42-year-old man was arrested in Nicosia on 23 October when he went to a post office to pick up the parcel. He is being held for eight days under a remand order issued on 24 October.
During Wednesday’s operation, police also found and arrested a 25-year-old man for staying illegally in the Republic, after establishing that he was in Cyprus unlawfully.
Nicosia DAOE-YKAN is continuing its investigation.
