The first volume of ‘Voices and Memories of Asia Minor and Cyprus. They Do Not Fade, They Are Not Forgotten’, a two-volume historical work, will be presented in Nicosia at 7.30pm on Thursday, November 5, at the ‘Archangelos’ ceremonial hall of the Cultural Foundation of the Holy Monastery of Kykkos.
The book was researched, written and edited by journalist, researcher and author Chrysanthos Chrysanthou and published by Tetraktys Films. Filmmaker and producer Stavros Papageorgiou coordinated the project.
The event is under the auspices of the ‘Anastasis and Efrosyni Tosounoglou’ Educational and Charitable Foundation. Its president and founder, Anna Tosounoglou-Christofi, sponsored the publication, which is dedicated to the memory of her parents and to all refugees from Asia Minor and Cyprus.
Representatives of the state and the Church, and people who worked on the publication, will speak at the presentation. Christina Polykarpou and Symeon Merkouris will then perform a short programme of songs from Asia Minor, before Chrysanthou presents the book’s contents and the main findings of his research. The evening ends with a reception, and copies will be on sale in the foyer.
Chrysanthou carried out research in Cyprus, Greece and Asia Minor, drawing on material from official archives and private collections, for the 768-page volume. In July 2025, he travelled with a Tetraktys film crew to Alanya, Antalya and other areas where Greek communities once lived.
The book contains testimonies, photographs and archival material, much of which, according to the publisher, has not been published before.

Limassol and Athens
The book will then be presented at the 5th International Book Fair in Limassol, held from November 20 to 22 at the Lanitis Carob Mills. At 5pm on Sunday, November 22, Chrysanthou and the publisher will discuss the book and take questions from the audience in a session moderated by architect and author Tasos Andreou.
This year’s presentations end on November 26 at the House of Cyprus in Athens, where Papageorgiou’s documentary ‘Memory of a Beloved Homeland’ will also be screened.
Where to buy
The book goes on sale on November 5 at the presentation venues in Nicosia, Limassol and Athens, and at selected bookshops in all cities in the free areas of Cyprus. The publisher also offers home delivery to all cities in the free areas, by prior arrangement.
