Swimmer Karolina Pelendritou has taken a 7th medal for Cyprus in her glorious Paralympics career, securing a silver at the Paris games last night in the 50 metre freestyle of the S11 visual impairment category.
She was behind Chinese Jia Ma who achieved a world record time of 28.96, breaking her own record set in the Tokyo Paralympics. Pelendritou recorded 29.82, her best of the day as she topped her qualification round.
The Cypriot athlete had won bronze in the Tokyo race.
There is more action more Pelendritou next Thursday September 5th, with a strong chance of top spot, as she takes part in the 100 metre breaststroke, her signature discipline, where’s she taken no less than three gold medals, in the Athens, Beijing and Tokyo Paralympics, with a silver in London 2012.
