Cypriots will have their eyes glued to the TV this afternoon to watch the ILCA 7 Laser sailing Olympics race.

The country’s only Olympic medalist, Pavlos Kontides, is heavily favoured to win his second medal, as he enters the final contest in second place.

The Limassolian sailor still has some chances to grab the gold medal, but to do so he must dethrone Australia’s Matt Wearn.

According to the ranking, Kontides cannot drop below fourth place.

Peru’s Peschiera is currently third, while team Britain’s Michael Beckett will enter the final in fourth place.

The race will start at 4:43 Cyprus time and will be broadcast by CyBC.
