According to Reuters French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Cyprus on Monday to demonstrate support for the European Union member state following last week’s drone strike.
The French presidency announced the visit on Sunday, noting that the move is intended to underscore solidarity with Nicosia after the island became a target of regional hostilities.
High-Level Meetings in Nicosia
During his visit, President Macron is scheduled to hold a series of high-level discussions. He will meet with:
- Nikos Christodoulides, President of Cyprus
- Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of Greece
The trilateral presence of the French, Cypriot, and Greek leaders in Nicosia comes amid heightened tensions and follows the establishment of a European anti-missile “umbrella” to protect the island.
