The 56 MPs who will serve in Cyprus’s House of Representatives for the next five years were elected in Sunday’s parliamentary vote, with DISY, AKEL, ELAM, DIKO, ALMA and Direct Democracy entering parliament, according to the results.
Traditional parties, including EDEK and the Movement of Ecologists, were left outside parliament, while the picture on preference votes became clear in the early hours of Monday.
DISY’s Demetris M. Demetriou topped the preference vote nationwide, receiving 13,157 votes in the Nicosia district. He was followed in Nicosia by Giorgos Pamporidis with 12,040 votes and Savia Orphanidou with 11,367 votes.
In the AKEL list in Nicosia, Christos Christofides received 10,916 votes, followed by Aristos Damianou with 10,673 and Giorgos Loukaides with 10,523. ELAM’s Marios Pelekanos received 6,681 votes in the same district, while DIKO’s Christiana Erotokritou received 5,844.
In Limassol, DISY’s Fotini Tsiridou led her party’s list with 6,956 votes, while Efraim Christou topped AKEL’s list with 4,966. ELAM’s Polys Anogiriatis received 2,970 votes, and DIKO’s Panikos Leonidou received 3,376.
In Famagusta, AKEL’s Nikos Kettiros received 11,510 votes, the highest figure listed for the district. DISY’s Giorgos Karoullas received 9,540 votes, while ELAM’s Linos Papagiannis received 7,003.
In Paphos, DIKO’s Chrysanthos Savvides received 4,832 votes, followed among the highest figures in the district by DISY’s Charalambos Pazaros with 4,609 and AKEL’s Valentinos Fakontis with 3,943.
In Kyrenia, AKEL’s Anastasia Hasikou received 2,240 votes, DISY’s Demos Georgiades received 1,935, and DIKO’s Adamos Aspris received 776.
In Larnaca, AKEL’s Andreas Pasioutidis led the district with 7,698 votes, followed by DISY’s Prodromos Alamritis with 7,297. DIKO’s Andreas Apostolou received 3,679 votes, while ELAM’s Sotiris Ioannou received 3,158. ALMA’s Panagiotis Fanis Evangelidis received 576 votes, and ADK’s Foivos Doukanaris received 500.
