Former Attorney General Costa Clerides has given a statement to the investigative team probing allegations surrounding the “Sandy” case and claims made by author Makarios Drousiotis.
Clerides confirmed to philenews that he provided investigators with information that came to his attention after he had left office. His decision to testify follows a public statement he issued to address media reports suggesting he was maintaining a “silent stance” on the matter.
In a written statement released on 18 April, Clerides said he felt compelled to clarify his position after being linked to issues raised in posts by Drousiotis and Nicoletta Clerides.
“Any limited information that came to my knowledge after my retirement regarding certain matters of an official nature, I will present, if necessary, where I should and with all responsibility,” he said.
Investigations are continuing, with authorities also taking statements from relatives of “Sandy,” who has already appeared before the investigative team. The probe remains in full progress as investigators gather further evidence and additional testimony.
