It was a delivery worth perhaps dozens, if not hundreds of thousands, as a 35 year old man was arrested yesterday for possession of almost 1.2 kgs of crystal meth following a tightly-knit coordinated operation by the Anti-Drug and Special Operations Branch of the Organised Crime Directorate, conducted in the Larnaca and Limassol districts.
Authorities launched their investigation following a tip off from a European country on the arrival of a postal package to Cyprus containing the large quantity of methamphetamine.
After joint work with the Customs Department, the said package was located on October 21st at Larnaca airport, having just being processed, following arrival from Europe.
When the 35 year old suspect, named as recipient on the label, showed up to collect his parcel, the anti-drug squad was there to arrest him on site.
He was subsequently remanded in connection with a case of illegal import and possession of drugs with intent to supply as well as proceeds from crime.
