There are 870,632 valid Republic of Cyprus identity cards held by living citizens, of which 774,145 belong to people registered in the Greek Cypriot community and 96,487 to people registered in the Turkish Cypriot community, according to population registry figures as of September 11, 2026.
Interior Minister Konstantinos Ioannou gave the figures to parliament in reply to a parliamentary question from DISY MP Andreas Konstantinou.
The figures do not include identity cards that have expired and not been renewed, Ioannou said.
