The next step in the case of the murder of 55-year-old Thanasis Kalogeropoulos is the registration of the case before the court.
The detention order for the four suspects, aged 41, 44, 22, and 21, respectively, expires today.
Investigators are seeking the registration of the case, with all four individuals being referred for trial before the Criminal Court.
Stringent security measures have been put in place by the authorities, both within and outside the courtroom, as it will be the first time that all four suspects will appear before the court.
The joint indictment includes the names of all four individuals, listing charges of conspiracy to commit murder, premeditated murder, possession, transportation, and use of firearms of Category A and B, possession, transportation, and use of explosive materials, vehicle arson, and theft.
Notably, Article 20 of Chapter 154 of the Criminal Code, relating to self-incrimination, is also included in the charges.
The prosecution will seek their detention until the commencement of the trial, although defense lawyers are expected to raise objections.
Based on information presented during previous detention hearings, it appears that investigators have secured significant evidence, testimonies, and proof implicating all the suspects.
The roles of each suspect are now clearer, with the 41-year-old suspect being identified as one of the two perpetrators and the motorcycle driver.
Genetic material recovered from a bullet casing at the murder scene was matched to the 44-year-old suspect’s DNA.
This individual is believed to have provided his Skarinou residence as the venue for the organization and planning of Thanasis Kalogeropoulos’ execution, serving as the central figure in the group’s activities.
Moreover, recent evidence suggests that the 44-year-old was present at the residence both before and during the murder.
