The Cyprus Fire Service received dozens of calls for help on Wednesday as severe weather hit the island. Flood crews were sent out 13 times in the Paphos, Larnaca and Nicosia districts, including to rescue a person from a vehicle on a flooded road.
Crews mainly pumped water out of flooded basements, cleared storm drains and dealt with fallen or shifted trees. They were also called out to sparking Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) cables and a tree that had caught fire.
Crews from the District Local Government Organisations (DLGOs) were also clearing storm drains on flooded roads.
Some fire service staff were recalled to cover operational needs.
