A 50-year-old man was referred to trial in Paphos today, charged with the murder of his brother-in-law.
The Paphos District Court ordered the accused to remain in custody until his trial on September 10.
The indictment alleges that the accused fatally shot 43-year-old Stelios Stylianou with a hunting rifle during a family dinner at his home on July 3.
Police investigations revealed that an argument preceded the shooting. The accused subsequently fled the scene and was later found at Paphos Hospital with minor injuries. He was arrested under a court warrant and confessed to the crime during interrogation.
A post-mortem examination concluded that Stylianou died from internal bleeding and compression of vital organs due to a gunshot wound.
