Hunters and residents of Anarita, Paphos, have reported suspected poisoning of animals in recent days.
Since last Sunday, unknown individuals have allegedly been placing poisoned food in areas frequented by dogs and other animals, leading to numerous deaths.
The problem is particularly acute near the Anarita army camp (K.E.N. Anarita) and extends across a wide area up to the borders of the neighbouring Episkopi.
Local hunters claim that in a single morning, three hunting dogs died after consuming poisoned meat. The carcasses of other animals, including foxes and hedgehogs, have also been discovered in the area over the past few days.
Anarita residents are urging authorities to launch an immediate investigation into the procurement and use of the poison. They argue that identifying the culprits should not be difficult in such a small community.
