Shots have been fired at the Ormideia home of the 76-year-old father of a 48-year-old man serving a life sentence for a 2016 quadruple murder in Ayia Napa, three months after the convicted man’s 33-year-old brother was the target of an attempted murder.
Police were alerted on Wednesday morning and said it had not yet been established when the shots were fired. Investigations into the circumstances are continuing.
The shots hit the front of the house, philenews understands. Famagusta CID officers are at the scene, and the Criminological Investigation Service (CSI) will also carry out examinations.
In the early hours of 21 August, attackers who had lain in wait a few metres from the 33-year-old’s home in the Kokkines area of Ayia Napa opened fire on his car at 5:40am as he tried to turn right, hitting it several times. He was not injured.
Shortly afterwards, a stolen Volvo used by the attackers was found burning in an open area in Avgorou. The assessment at the time was that the attackers may have wanted to send a message to the 48-year-old.
The 48-year-old was sentenced to four life terms in September 2017 for the quadruple murder committed in Ayia Napa on 23 June 2016.
