The 43-year-old man who has confessed to murdering 61-year-old Olga Vasilieva was attacked by another detainee in his cell at the Limassol police holding cells on Sunday evening, according to information.
Police officers who noticed the incident immediately rushed to the cell. The man was taken to Limassol General Hospital, where he was examined and treated, and was then discharged and returned to the cells.
The authorities have since decided to keep him apart from other detainees to prevent any further attack. Police are investigating how the other detainee managed to reach and attack him, and the wider circumstances of the incident.
