A 22-year-old food delivery rider suffered a broken nose and needed 11 stitches after a group of youths allegedly threw stones at him as he rode his motorcycle in Limassol on Friday evening.
The rider, who is also a student, was taken by ambulance to Limassol General Hospital. Tests showed a fractured nasal bone and a cut to the head. He was treated and discharged.
According to his complaint, the incident happened at around 7.30pm on Omonia Avenue, when the youths, who were in a nearby street, allegedly threw stones towards him.
He told RoadReportCY that about five or six teenagers were in the area and allegedly attacked him as he rode past at about 45 kilometres an hour.
He was hit in the face. “My helmet broke, my glasses shattered into two pieces,” he said. He also suffered serious injuries to his nose and just above his eye.
He said doctors gave him 11 stitches in total, nine on his nose and two above his right eye. He added that he bled heavily and that his condition became very critical before he received medical help.
Despite his injuries, he managed to ride away to a safer area and asked passers-by for help. They called an ambulance and the police.
He has posted a video showing his injuries.
