The Indian Navy frigate INS Trikand is expected to dock at Limassol port on Sunday for a four-day visit that will include a joint naval cooperation exercise with the Cyprus Navy.
The visit, scheduled from 21-24 September, forms part of deepening bilateral defence cooperation following agreements reached during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Cyprus in June.
The Indian High Commission said the presence of the Talwar-class frigate represents a “significant step” towards closer cooperation in naval training and defence industry sectors. The collaboration falls under the 2025-29 Action Plan agreed in the Joint Declaration for Implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership on 16 June 2024.

The programme also features a yoga demonstration, whilst the ship will be open to the public on 23 September from 10:00 to 17:00 local time.
Joint exercise scheduled to enhance maritime security
A joint PASSEX exercise between Indian and Cyprus naval forces has been scheduled for Wednesday, 24 September.
Indian officials said that the visit “symbolises enduring friendship” and represents “exciting prospects” for bilateral defence ties.
