An electrical short circuit caused a fire that broke out Monday afternoon at a 76-year-old man’s residence in the Konia area of Paphos, official investigations have revealed.
The blaze caused extensive damage to the property, though the elderly resident managed to evacuate safely after noticing the flames.
On-site examinations showed significant damage to the ground floor interior and household equipment, with the total cost yet to be assessed.
Officials confirmed the property was not insured.
Fire Service personnel deployed water hoses and breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire, which was contained to the single property.
