ELAM has called on Real Madrid to cancel a football camp planned in the occupied north on 14 November, which will involve young players from the Real Madrid Foundation’s programme in Turkey. The call comes a few months after a Barcelona camp there was cancelled.
According to an announcement by Genclik Gucu Akademisi, the academy organising the camp, it will be held at the Acapulco facilities, where the academy will play a friendly against young players from the Real Madrid Foundation Football Program Turkiye.
ELAM described holding the event in the occupied north as unacceptable and called on Real Madrid’s central management in Spain to cancel it. It also called on the Republic of Cyprus to take the necessary action.

The party said such moves serve, wittingly or unwittingly, efforts to legitimise the faits accomplis of the invasion and the continuing occupation. “No event on blood-soaked occupied land,” it added.
The Barcelona camp in the occupied north was cancelled after objections and interventions, including by the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) to the Spanish football federation.
According to Real Madrid, the foundation’s football training programme in Turkey is run in cooperation with Be Free Football and Regnum Hotels.
