From July to August, then September 2023, and now in mid-2024, we are still awaiting the completion of studies and conclusions.
This concerns developments surrounding the issue of constructing a marina in Paphos, which has become an unsolvable matter for the province over the past two decades.
Following the announcement of the tender for hiring consultants to prepare the documents for the Paphos Marina competition, at the end of last year, hopes for expediting the procedures were quickly dashed as an issue arose with the documents sent to the Legal Service for opinion. It was found that some corrections needed to be made.
These corrections were made, the documents were resent to the Legal Service, and now no one is substantively able to say where the matter stands and what is expected in the near future.
Regarding the expectations of the Chamber of Commerce and the stakeholders of Paphos in general, after the continuous delays of the competition for the large project, the Chamber’s President, George Mais, noted that the positions of the Paphos stakeholders regarding the development framework have been satisfied.
The competition will be conducted using the BOT method, he concluded, and interested investors will be invited based on the terms of the announcement.
