Four arrested in Cyprus police night operations

Cyprus police arrested four people during overnight operations carried out across the island as part of efforts to prevent serious crime and maintain public order.

Police said the arrests were linked to offences including theft by an employee, motorcycle theft and public insult.

During the operations, officers stopped and checked 809 drivers and passengers overnight.

A further 26 premises were inspected in checks aimed at tackling offences linked to business activity, resulting in two complaints.

Traffic enforcement checks led to 372 reports for various traffic violations, while 17 cases of suspected traffic offences are under investigation.

Among the violations recorded were 204 reports for speeding.

Police also impounded nine vehicles as part of the investigations.

Authorities said coordinated policing operations aimed at preventing and tackling crime are continuing on a daily basis with increased police presence, targeted checks and operational action to strengthen public safety and maintain order.
