Social media platforms were flooded with videos and images of the phenomenon, primarily from Limassol and Larnaca.
Police received multiple calls from concerned citizens seeking information about safety risks, authorities confirmed to philenews.
Cyprus sits approximately 300 kilometres west of Lebanon and Syria.
