A 45-year-old man has been found guilty of premeditated murder by the Dhekelia British Base Court for killing Charalambos Constantinides, 52, in Ormideia last June.
The court will announce sentencing on March 16-17 for the murder that took place at the defendant’s car paint shop on June 25.
British Bases Senior Police Inspector Fanos Christodoulou said they were satisfied the victim’s family “had seen justice served”, adding that while nothing could compensate for losing a loved one, “the perpetrator will face very severe punishment”.
The victim was shot twice in the face following an apparent financial dispute, before being struck on the head with an iron bar. Police were alerted by a local resident who reported gunshots and saw the defendant near the victim’s body.
The perpetrator fled the scene in a car from the garage but surrendered to authorities the following day.
