The suspect in the Ormideia murder case allegedly killed Charalambos Constantinides, 52, for a financial dispute over €300 according to testimonies in possession of the British Bases.

According to information, Constantinides from Paralimni occasionally worked at the 45-year-old suspect’s car repair shop, and the money from salaries owed sparked the argument which reportedly ended with the murder.

As heard in the Dhekelia Base Court this morning, the two met at the car repair shop around 10:00 pm on Tuesday. A short while later, Bases Police was notified of two gunshots fired, with one wounding the victim on the head.

After committing the murder, the perpetrator appears to have attempted to conceal the crime and clean up the scene.

Upon the arrival of the patrol cars, the armed suspect fled the scene. According to philenews information, the suspect confessed to fleeing the area in a vehicle from the car repair shop.

The autopsy on the victim’s body by the Greek coroner, Manolis Sakeliadis, revealed a new element: the victim’s injuries were not exclusively from gunshots.

The perpetrator appears to have struck the victim with an iron object on the head and other parts of the body. The court read details from the medical certificate prepared by the coroner, stating that the victim sustained gunshot wounds and multiple bruises. The cause of death is recorded as head trauma.

The case was unravelled when the suspect surrendered himself to the SBA authorities yesterday evening, reportedly confessing to the crime, claiming that he argued with the victim over the money owed.

According to information, the 45-year-old threatened and then shot the victim with a hunting rifle.

The murder weapon is already in the hands of the SBA Police, as is the car the perpetrator used to flee the scene.

The Bases Court remanded the suspect in custody for eight days. The 45-year-old was represented by a lawyer, who did not object to the detention.
