Lebanon: Israel continues strikes in southern Beirut

Relevant News

Israeli warplanes have reportedly conducted new airstrikes on Dahiyeh, a southern suburb of Beirut known as a Hezbollah stronghold, according to Lebanese media sources.

Eyewitnesses reported at least three explosions in the area. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have not immediately commented on these specific strikes.

Earlier today, the Lebanese army announced that one soldier was killed and another wounded by an Israeli strike during a joint rescue operation with the Lebanese Red Cross in southern Lebanon.

The army stated that the rescue operation in Taybeh village was targeted by an “Israeli attack”. The Lebanese Red Cross confirmed that four of its rescue workers were injured in the incident.

In a separate development, Hezbollah claimed to have detonated two explosive devices to counter a new attempt by Israeli forces to infiltrate southern Lebanon.

The Iran-backed organisation said it activated the devices as “an enemy infantry force was trying to infiltrate the town of Maroun al-Ras in Lebanon, near the border”.

Meanwhile, Syria’s state news agency SANA reported that Syrian air defences intercepted “hostile” targets over an open area west of Damascus.
