Public hospital workers threaten action over collective agreement

Six trade unions representing public hospital workers in Cyprus have accused the Organisation of State Health Services (SHSO) of delaying negotiations for a collective agreement.

The unions, including PASYDY, PASYKI, PASYNΟ, SEK, PEO, and DEOK, have expressed frustration over SHSO’s repeated postponement of a scheduled meeting.

In a joint statement, the unions warned that they may take further action if SHSO continues to stall the negotiations. They noted that the talks have been ongoing for three years and that their patience “has reached its limits.”

“SHSO has once again unilaterally postponed the meeting at the last moment, a meeting they themselves scheduled since mid-July. Their reason for the delay—claiming they need more time—was the same excuse used when the meeting was postponed over the summer,” the statement read.

The unions stressed that they are not willing to tolerate SHSO’s “mockery” and that its actions have led the negotiations to a deadlock.
