Paphos expects winter visitors from UK and central Europe

Visitors from the UK and central Europe are expected to keep Paphos’s hotels and wider tourism industry running, at least at a basic level, through the winter, according to tourism bodies in the district.

Activity at major European tour operators points to demand for Paphos this winter, before the first notable influx of tourists over Christmas and then in March and April.

Poland, Hungary and Austria, and to a lesser extent southern European countries such as France and Italy, are playing an increasingly important role in the district’s tourism. Unlike most other destinations, Paphos receives a steady flow of visitors from these countries all year round, not only in summer.

Tourism bodies in Paphos say the rise in arrivals from central Europe is due to Ryanair, which links Paphos year-round with dozens of airports in those countries.
