The Interior Ministry said the evacuation order in the Akrotiri area will not be extended for now after reviewing the latest situation with other competent state authorities.
According to the ministry, the decision was taken after examining how conditions have developed in the area in recent days. The mayor of Kourion and the deputy mayor of Akrotiri have already been informed.
“Despite the end of the evacuation situation, the area remains on heightened alert and the situation will be reassessed continuously to take timely measures if a new need arises. In this context, Civil Defence teams remain in place as a precaution and continue to patrol the area,” the ministry said.
