Handmade in Cyprus and Nicosia Municipality have launched the capital’s official Christmas market at Eleftheria Square, running from 29 November to 4 January.
The six-week event transforms the square into a Christmas village modelled on traditional European markets, featuring over 200 local handmade artists throughout the season, according to organisers.
Around 40 local handmade artists will participate daily, with rotations introducing new makers and products each day. The market also includes festive food, drinks and dessert vendors operating from midday to night, as well as arts and crafts workshops for children and adults.
Daily visits from Motorcycle Santa will add to the festivities, organisers said.
Nicosia Municipality will provide a full entertainment programme, integrating the Christmas market into the city’s festive route from Eleftheria Square to Paramythoupoli.
Handmade in Cyprus is curating and operating the entire market.
The market invites residents and visitors to choose handcrafted gifts over mainstream alternatives whilst directly supporting local makers, organisers said.
Handmade in Cyprus encouraged people to make visiting Eleftheria Square part of their holiday routine, whether to shop for gifts, enjoy festive treats, join workshops or stroll through the decorated square.
